What looked on paper a difficult match turned out to be a well deserved victory for the Southern League Div III squad at Chelmsford on Saturday.

Leading the way was the dynamic trio, with Darron Keevil winning the A Shot, and  B Discus, Javelin, Hammer and 110hurdles. Arron had a less hectic day winning the A Pole vault, B Shot and runners up spot in the Javelin, Triple High and Long Jump,  and third in the 110 hurdles. Completing the trio was a welcome return for Christian Newton who won the A Discus before getting runners up spot in the Hammer and Triple jump and a leg in the 4x100.

Martin Chester managed nine points out of 10 with a win in the steeplechase and a second in the 5000, Paul Berrett tracked him all the way in winning the B race.

Making his track debut of the season was Graham Hogan who unfortunately missed his scheduled event, and opted to do the 3000 steeplechase which he won, as he finished he showed the bulldog spirit by immediately running a leg of the 4x400 team to help a injured team mate.

Scott Keating pulled on the Havering vest for the first time in a few years and provided runners up spots in the 100m, long and high jumps before cramp set in. Also competing in pain was Anthony Soar who finished a creditable 2nd in the 1500m. Another sufferer was Neill Collins who finished third in the 800m - we hope they all feel better soon!

Simon Richards had a good run winning the B 200, with Toma Davies also running well to get second place in the 100m & 200m, Tom Foskett had another competitive 400 running well to finish second. This trio went on the finish second in the 4x100, joined by Chris Newton. Russ Middleton ran the 400 and 800 winning the B 800 then running a storming leg in the 4x400 with Graham, Simon and Tom,.

Congratulations to the team and I look forward to seeing you all at Walthamstow on 2nd August where we have to defend that sixth place.
