A fine blend
of youth and experience coupled with great competitive spirit saw
the Southern Men's team win in emphatic style at Ipswich on
Saturday.
The team's backbone of Darron Keevil and Arron Bonning competed in ten events resulting in an impressive 33 points of the team's 122 point tally. Darron won B string shot and javelin, was was second in the hammer, while Arron won the B high jump together with second places in pole vault, javelin and hammer. Isaac Ogunlade set the track team off to a winning start in the 400mh. This was followed by winning the next event the 100m, having a rest then winning the 400m flat then completing the day undefeated in both relays. Jordan Brown made his senior debut getting second in the 100 & 200m then competing for the winning 4x100 quartet. Terry Hughes also made his league debut winning the long jump, then stepping in at the last minute to get second in the 200m and compete in the winning 4x100 team. Adam Wileman got a couple of good seconds in the HJ and LJ and was a part of the winning 4x100 foursome Joseph Waked enjoyed a competitive 800m winning the B string in another PB and was part of the winning 4x400 team. Simon Richards answered a last minute call and ran a superb PB in winning the 800m before winning the 400m and being part of the winning 4x400 team. Paul Berrett got maximum points winning a competitive steeplechase. Leo Barker opened his season winning the Shot, then second in the Discus and part of the winning 4x400m quartet. Kieran Nelson had a good workout getting second in both hurdles, then winning the TJ. The dynamic duo of Neill Collins and Chris Smith had a very competitive 1500 with the Peterborough team, with both coming through recording a double win. |
