There was no battle at Hastings this time around as the Ladies Southern Women's team cantered to a 20 point victory against mid-table opposition to regain their Division One status at the first time of asking.

Emma Christmas added almost two metres to her own club u20 javelin record and in the bargain she claimed the senior record held by Kate Brewington. Her 38.11m effort lifted her close to the UK top 50 rankings and added 21cms to Kate's year-old senior record. But on the day it was only good enough for runners-up slot.

Claire Brennan was in excellent form winning both B sprints and the A 100m hurdles - equalling her legal hurdles PB of 15.3s - she has twice run faster but with wind assistance. On a busy day she also jumped higher than for some in the high jump, clearing 1.50m for second and contributed a leg to the winning sprint relay squad.

Another senior to win three events was thrower Mel Harrison, whose winning discus season's best of 41.00m was close to her PB, as was her hammer effort which won B honours and she also added an A shot win. Another thrower to notch up a senior winning treble was Sarah Deacon who triumphed with A hammer, B discus and shot victories plus B javelin second.

Christina Kalejaiye was also in winning form sprinting to an A string 100m win, and second in the 200m.  Under 17 Lisa Schofield tackled the senior 100m hurdles for the 2nd time and was an easy B string winner, Christina and Lisa - along with the eldest Schofield sibling Nicola (3rd in the 400m hurdles) - were Claire Brennan's winning relay partners.

There was also sibling success for Claire's younger sister Nina Brennan who marked her return from injury with a B 400m win.  Another track winner was Lauren Clark who won the A 800m and Lauren also ran superbly to anchor the 4x400m quartet (Robyn Delivett, Nina Brennan and Laura Moore) to victory with her fastest-ever leg of 58.3s.

Versatile Katie O'Sullivan added a B long jump win, as well as pole vault, B high jump and B 400m seconds and triple jump fourth while newly married Laurie Cooper - the former Miss Cossey - stepped up to the 1500m & 3000m events, finishing third in both, plus filling a gap in the triple jump. Robyn Matson completed the senior team with 1500m third place.

For the u15s Frankie Calder and Nicola Hill both had a hat trick of wins. Frankie won both sprints and won the A long jump, smashing her PB with a 5.13m effort which put her in the club all-time u15 top ten. In the B long jump Nicola also broke through the 5m barrier for the first time with her winning best of 5.03m and all her jumps exceeded her previous best. She also set a new high jump PB of 1.40m to win the B competition and in a frantic hour-and-a half period added victory in the hurdles.

Bethan Siddons was the club's only other u15 winner. The English Schools silver medallist entered the high jump after Nicola Hill & the rest of the competitors had been eliminated and her solo effort of 1.60m won by 20cms. She was also 2nd in the B javelin.

Catrina McAuliffe had a hat-trick of second places in the hurdles (B), shot and discus, while Carla Schofield was second, third and fourth in her three throwing events. Becky Owen was 2nd in the 1500m and Lilla Jacks completed the team with third & fourth in the B sprints.

Charlotte Owen competed in the u17 hurdles events for the second time, improving her PBs in each and placing 2nd in the 300m hurdles event.
