The senior women edged out Aldershot to place second in their Division 1 fixture in wet & windy conditions at Southampton on Saturday, but the result was clouded by a back injury to international Kate Brewington who was injured contesting the long jump.

The senior throws were key to the team's success.  Mel Harrison was a double winner, taking maximum points in the B hammer, with a new PB, the shot A and placing 2nd in the discus. Club senior record holder Louise Matthews & U20 record holder Emma Christmas made no mistake winning both javelin strings, and Sarah Deacon was in good form, setting a season’s best for second in the A hammer & shot B, plus a surprise win in the B high jump, as well as picking up two points in the 400m hurdles.  The good throwing results continued as Lynsey Clark was second in B discus and she was third in the triple jump.

Hannah Gamester won the B long jump and was second in the B pole vault, as well as picking up two points in the 100m and adding a relay leg. Claire Brennan added another string to her bow clearing a respectable 1.90m for second in the B pole vault, and was also second in the sprint hurdles and ran in the relay. Vicky Collier made her club debut with a B 3000m second place, as Laura Moore was third in the A event, as well as gaining 200m points.  Robyn Matson was third in the B 800m and added 1500m and relay efforts to the cause.

Lauren Clark tackled the triple jump for the first time and was third, and she was also 2^nd in the 800m, and ran both relays.  Charlotte & Becky Owen were kept busy and both picked up third places in the u17 hurdles, and also were third in the main match 1500m (Becky) and high jump (Charlotte).

The u15s were unable to record any wins but the small team battled well to cover most events and recorded key second and third places.  Sam Hill was 2^nd in shot, third in the discus and set a 100m PB.  Nicole Dalton was second in the B discus and got place points in both 800m and high jump. Georgia Davies was 2^nd in the B javelin, and competed in 800m and shot.  Kike Oniwinde also tackled three individual events, picking up third places in javelin and long jump.

Emma Fox was third in the 1500m and also tackled the hurdles, and newcomer Rebecca Stanley stepped up from the u15 ranks to place third in the 1500m B.  Rebecca Clements picked up six valuable points in the 100, 200m & long jump.

When the points were tallied the excellent team work paid off as the HMAC squad edged out Aldershot to place second, for a mid-table position in Division 1 after two of the six fixtures.
