Another strong senior field events showing, with seven wins from the eight A & B strings, helped the Ladies Southern Women's League team to gain second place in their Division 1 home fixture at Mayesbrook Park on Saturday.

Mel Harrison was a class apart with a quartet of wins, with A shot & discus victories together with B hammer & javelin successes with distances that would have won the A event if her partners Sarah Deacon & Emma Christmas hadn't had longer marks. Lynsey Clark contributed the seventh victory with a B discus win, bettered only by Mel's A string winning throw but later aggravated an injured hamstring when placing third in the triple jump..

Hannah Gamester & Danielle Ross paired up for a pole vault win double both clearing 2.40m but there were thin pickings on the track as Claire Brennan's 100m hurdles success & Laurie Cooper's B 400m hurdles win were the only maximum pointers.

Robyn Delivett ran a season's best for second in the B 400m, and Vicky Smith ran well in her first outing the summer with a close third in the A 800m.

In the U15s two of the talented U13 middle distance squad stepped up an age group with wins, as Rebecca O'Neill & Nicola Peachey took A & B string 800m honours. On the field Sam Hill (PB) and Becky Luck took full points in the discus A & B, Kike Oniwinde contributed an A-string javelin win, while Jennifer Holland won the B high jump.
