A short-handed Southern Women's League team got their season off to a winning start at Crawley on Saturday, as they ran out easy winners in their Seniors Division 2 match.

Danielle Ross returned from injury with a winning treble in the A pole vault, and B shot & high jump.  Emma Christmas not only won her javelin speciality in a season's best of 38.66m but also took the B 100m and earned discus points.

Mel Harrison went over 40m for the first time in almost two years to win the discus, also won the B javelin and was A hammer runner up. Cathy Matthews made her league debut with wins in the 400mH A & 100mH B, and Laurie Cooper (400m) and Hayley Pegg (1500m) also took the honours.

Claire Brennan filled the gaps well in five individual events and notched up one win, surprisingly in the B pole vault and added second place points in the other four, 100, 200, hurdles and long jump.

More second places came from Robyn Delivett (200m) and Rachel Kerr (400m) and both relay teams, while Angela Thompson 3000m third place completed the winning squad.
