A powerful women's squad confirmed promotion to the Southern Women's League Senior Division One with a convincing home victory at Mayesbrook yesterday. Their 123 points tally was the highest in the division this season and was only 13 points short of the maximum. On the field there were win doubles in all events except the hammer, while track doubles came in 100m, 400m, and both hurdles events. Kate Cowley further increased her club pole vault record with a third-time clearance at 2.85m and she added high jump and B long jump victories. Win doubles were gained by Lucy Sargent (100m & 200m), Laura Bealey (400m hurdles & 400m), Mel Harrison (shot & discus), Nicola Hill (100m hurdles & long jump), Claire Brennan (100m & 100m hurdles B) Danielle Ross (PV B & Triple jump A), Hayley Pegg (1500m A & 800m B) and Cathy Matthews (400mb & Triple jump B). Nicola Hill, Robyn Delivett, Claire Brennan and Lucy Sargent combined for sprint relay success. Placings were gained by Katie Richardson (800m A), Mel Harrison & Nina Brennan (hammer) and Robyn Delivett (B 200m) and the 4x400m relay squad of Laura Bealey, Rachel Kerr, Nina Brennan and Cathy Matthews had to give second best to Dartford. Louise Mathews' knee injury in the final round of the javelin after holding off the challenge of Emma Christmas who won the B was a sad end to a successful first season in the Seniors section of the league. |
