The southern Women's squad put up a strong performance against league leaders Portsmouth in their second round fixture at Mayesbrook on Saturday.

There were 15 victories, 8 A and 7 B strings. The throws saw 31 points scored out of a maximum of 32.

Mel Harrison once again led the way notching up a hat trick of A wins in shot, discus and hammer. Kike Oniwinde & Emma Christmas cleaned up in the A & B javelin, Lauren Clark won the B discus and Amy Cox improved her hammer PB for B string victory. Zoe Young added shot runners up points

Sara Luck impressed with a front running 3k victory to break the 10 minute barrier to claim a place in the club all-time top 10.

U20s Ingrid Deane & Zoey Littlechild added a 1500m double and U17 Ellie Bounds ran well against senior opposition in second. 

Claire Brennan and Chloe van Wulven won both strings of the 400m Hurdles and Chloe won the A high jump while Claire took the B 100m hurdles, with Chloe second in the A event.

Karen Baldwin took the B vault with Dani Ross equaling her PB in the A event, while Leanne Blaney added a PB in the non scoring vault. More points were added by Nina Brennan (400m), Angela James (LJ), Lydia St Ange (200m & Triple jump) and Cheki Onwuka (100m). Nicola Hill added yet another PB in the 400m.

The result leaves the squad third behind unbeaten leaders Portsmouth and Sutton & District, who the HMAC squad have not yet faced..
