The women's Southern League squad ended the season in style with victory in their final fixture at Bedford on Saturday.

Seven A and seven B victories plus a sprint relay success formed a platform for the squad's first win of the season after second places in the other four fixtures.  But fine efforts from the whole team made all the difference in a tough match against higher placed Luton & Sutton.

Mel Harrison again contributed a trio of A throws wins in the hammer, shot & discus and Kike Oniwinde and Emma Christmas added a javelin double. Mel added another important point in the triple jump and Emma scored in 100m & long jump.

Chloe van Wulven and Claire Brennan dominated the hurdles events, with Chloe winning the A sprint hurdles and Claire the B, with the honours reversed in the 400m hurdles. Chloe added points in the long & high jumps and Claire scored in the 200m.

Vicky Smith again tackled all three middle distance races, winning the 800m, almost catching the winner in the 1500m, with second, and placing third in the 3000m. U17 Becky O'Neill stepped up to the senior league successfully with wins in both 800m & 1500m B events.

Further wins came from Angela James in the B high jump and Danielle Ross who returned from injury to score full points in the  pole vault as Leanne Blayney produced a PB for third in the A.  Nina Brennan (400m & shot) and Lydia St Ange (100m & triple jump) completed the scoring tally.

The team were pushed hard by Luton all the way but victory in the sprint relay & second place ahead of Luton in the 4x400m ensured a winning end to the season, to lift the team from fifth to third in the final league table.
