A hastily assembled Southern Women's League team did new Team Manager Irene Brennan proud with their efforts at Ewell on Saturday but the short-handed squad had to settle for fourth.

The club’s Treasurer Irene Brennan had stepped in to fill the vacant team manager’s slot just seven days before so there was little time to assemble a squad and eight ladies rallied to the cause.

Chloe van Wulven & Claire Brennan provided a sprint hurdles double success, and also paired up in the 400m hurdles, 200m and high jump. Ingrid Deane added 3000m B victory and Kike Oniwinde was victorious in the javelin.

There was a welcome return to club colours from Megan Foley after more than three years away from the track who tackled both 1500m & 3000m, placing second and third, and 400m relay, while Hannah Connor (five events & sprint relay), Nina Brennan (four events & both relays) and Helen Biscoe (runners up in both 800m & 1500m & 400m relay leg) did their best to cover the gaps in the depleted team.
