The combined efforts of the magnificent seven team members who made the trip to Luton on Saturday could not stop another fourth place finish in their Southern Women's League Division 1 fixture.

The sprint hurdles provided maximum returns with Claire Brennan winning the A and Kate Cowley taking B honours. Former multi-eventer Kate scored well with second places in the long jump (season’s best), high jump and pole vault, and third in the shot, while Claire added 400m hurdles, 200m and javelin points. Both were also in relay action.  

Hannah Connor was a good B long jump winner, close to her summer’s best, and was also runner up in B hammer and fourth in the 100m.  Ellie Watson was second in the B high jump and added a triple jump PB for good measure in third.

Sarah Deacon continued her return with good points in all four throws with second in the discus (season’s best) third in hammer and shot and a season’s best in the javelin.  Helen Biscoe also reduced her season’s best performances for third in the 800m and fourth in the 1500m and Nina Brennan’s contributed important 400m, 200m and discus points.

A much improved turn out is needed for the next fixture which the club host at Mayesbrook Park on 7^th August.
