The UK Women's League team placed an excellent fourth in their Division 2 fixture at Swansea on Sunday. With two of the three fixtures complete lie third in the division as round 1 winners Wakefield were last this time and hosts Swansea bounced back from their wooden spoon placing at Wigan last month.

The throwing events were again the backbone of the team's success. Louise Mathews was a good A javelin winner, winning by some 9m and Emma Christmas's B javelin victory was matched by Vicky Thompson (Hammer) & Lynsey Clark (discus). Mel Harrison competed in three throws with two 4ths to show for it while injured Kate Brewington made the long trip west to again turn out for the B shot, placing 2nd.

Lynsey Clark added B triple jump victory in a new PB and Claire Brennan won the B 100m hurdles and set a season's best in the 400m hurdles. Chloe van Wulven warmed up for the English Schools Championships to set a 400m hurdles PB for third and was also third in the sprint hurdles in a season's best.  Katie Richardson also had her final competition before the Schools, making her league debut with 4th place in the A 1500m.

Kirsty Smith was 2nd in the triple jump A, with her second longest ever mark, Hayley Stibbs was 5th in the 800m in a season's best & was also 3rd in the B 1500m, while Robyn Matson was 4th in the 3000m.

Useful points were picked up by Laurie Cooper (400m, 200m & relay), Hannah Gamester (100m & pole vault), Lauren Clark (400m & 200m) & further points were added by Danielle Ross (pole vault), Lesley Felton stepped in to fill the 3000m gap, and Nina Brennan had a relay outing.

A solid performance is needed to guarantee another season in Division 2 in the third & final fixture at Liverpool on  6th August.
