A near full-strength ladies team bounced back from their first round seventh position with a third place finish in their UK Women's Division Two fixture at Stevenage on Sunday

The middle distance events provided the backbone of the squad's success.  Lauren Deadman was an emphatic B string 800m victor before winning the 1500m A race in equally dominant fashion. Faye Fullerton had races on her hands in both her events as Newham's National U20 Champion Leigh Lennon front ran to win the 800m with Faye fading to third, before Glasgow's Josephine Moultrie's PB forced Faye to kick hard on the last lap for 3000m victory. Sara Luck had an excellent B string double taking 300m B honours before returning with 1500B maximum points.

The hurdles and jumps events also added good points. Flic Clarke was third in the A 400m hurdles and Claire Brennan's PB brought her B string win and took her into the club all-time top 10. Claire was also second in the B sprint hurdles as was Chloe van Wulven in the A. Chloe also added B string high jump second place as Bethan Siddons was second in the A.

Leanne Blayney opened her summer account with an excellent PB to finish third and there was a bonus as Hannah Connor was equal first in the B.  Kate Cowley showed her class with long jump victory and was also second in the B javelin and scored in the shot.

Sarah Deacon was a useful third in the hammer and B string Katherine Knight marked her league debut with a PB in the B. Sarah added third place in the B discus and Katherine added A discus and shot points.

Heidi Nicholas, on loan from Basildon under league Higher Competition rules, boosted points in the sprints with fifth places against a swirling head wind and competed in both relays. Heidi joined with Flic Clarke, Claire Brennan and Chloe van Wulven for sixth in the sprint relay, and was partnered in the 4x400m event by by Nina Brennan, earlier fifth in the B 400m, the busy Kate Cowley and Sara Luck whose swift anchor leg ensured a fourth place finish. .

Laura Bealey returned from holiday to tackle the 400m and the steeplechase again, finishing fourth in the latter. Kike Oniwinde arrived just in time for the javelin, placing fifth and triple jump points were contributed by Angela James and Ellie Watson, who also covered a 100m gap.

The final fixture is at Coventry on 1 August and the bottom placed hosts will be hoping for a strong result to avoid relegation so another strong turn out is essential if the Havering side are to keep their Division Two place.
