The Ladies senior UK Women's League team hold onto fourth in the table after a hard-fought sixth place finish at a typically breezy Bedford on Saturday.

Faye Fullerton showed she is returning to good form with victories in both the 1500m and 3000m, in her first appearance in the league since 2011.  She led from gun to finish in both races, lapping half the 3000m race and also lapping the back marker in the metric mile.  Vicky Smith gave her usual support with third places in both B strings, as well as the 400m and 4x400m relay.

Michelle Hughes' strong finish brought her victory in the 400m hurdles, against a faster opponent and she also shared winning points in the B high jump. Bethan Siddons won the A high jump, and was close to her best in placing third in the triple jump, and added long jump fourth place points.

Louise Lockwood and Emma Christmas were a class apart in the javelin, finishing one-two to take maximum points in a wind-affected competition, and Louise also improved her shot best.

Bella Woods ran well to place second in the 800 B race, was fourth in the steeplechase and immediately ran a 400m relay leg. Also over the barriers Claire Brennan was fourth in the B 400m hurdles and a surprise third in the B discus.  Zoe Young's fourth placed long jump effort was her longest since 2009 and she added points in both sprints & the relay.

Track points were added by Lucy Bailey (100m - PB & 100m hurdles & relay) and Heidi Surman-Wells (400m, 800m & 100m hurdles debut and both relays) while field points came from Nina Brennan (discus & hammer) and the returning Hannah Connor (hammer & pole vault) as all the squad showed tremendous team spirit for the club cause.

Crawley & Harrow look to be heading for the promotion spots while Reading look likely to be relegated but the third and final fixture in Glasgow on 9th August will decide who joins them, with Havering not out of the relegation battle despite their current fourth place.
