An excellent second place finish from the ten-strong squad confirmed that the UK Women's team are in the hunt to reclaim their Division 2 status.

Mayi Hughes was in excellent form, improving her club Under 20 & senior triple jump record to 12.30m for victory, after earlier taking the long jump honours, and placing second in the B 100m in a PB in her first 100m race for six years!

Flic Clarke's season's best saw her come home well in front on the 400m hurdles field and she added  string sprint hurdles victory, equalling her PB, and also scored in the 200m before returning for both relays. Chloe Williams' fine form continued as she again improved her sprint hurdles PB, two weeks after breaking her 14 year old best and Claire Brennan made it full points in the hurdles winning the 400m hurdles B and placing third in both B high jump and javelin competitions.

Belize international Katy Sealy scored well with a trio of second places in the shot, javelin (season's best) and long jump, and sprinter Molly Adams was second in both 100m & 200m A races.

Vicky Smith and Robyn Matson both gamely tackled the gruelling 800m-1500m-3000m trio of distance events in the blistering conditions, with their best results coming in the 3000m as Vicky was A string runner up and Robyn's late charge brought her B victory. The 400m pairing of Katie Dawson and Nina Brennan showed great team spirit by taking on extra events, as Katie was triple jump runner up and added discus points with Nina contributing discus and shot points.

Katie joined Flic and Chloe to set up Molly for a fine sprint relay anchor which won the squad third place, and Katie, Nina, Chloe and Flic combined to end the meeting with second in the 4x400m relay.

With Havering hosting the final round at Lee Valley on 5th August a strong showing will see the club win one of the two promotion places, as just two match points covers the top four clubs, with Havering holding runners up spot.
