The small UK Women’s League team won a tight battle for sixth place with local rivals Newham but face a fight to hold onto their Division 2 status.

Flic Clarke came through off the last bend for 400m hurdles victory as Claire Brennan made it full points in the B with her fastest time for three years. Louise Lacy was second in the javelin to current UK Number One Laura Whittingham and Philippa Gill was second in the B, as well as adding shot and hammer points.

Jade Kavanagh held on for third in the A 400m and improved her best in the 200m. Ginte Bailey also set new career marks in both 800m & 1500m, placing third in the latter, while Robyn Matson tackled 800m, 1500m & 3000m with her highest placing fourth in the 1500m.

More fourth places went to Katy Sealy and Ellie Watson who covered all three jumping events and there were fifth places for Molly Adams (100m & 200m), Nina Brennan (discus), Elysha Thatcher-Gray (shot) and the 4x400m quartet of Jade, Nina, Ginte & Flic, as sprinter Charlie Wright completed the line-up.

With several key athletes unable to make the long trip north to Scotland Team Manager Tony Benton and his available squad are up against it but will battle all the way in the three-way fight with Sale Harriers Manchester and Newham to avoid joining bottom of the table Nene Valley in Division 3 next season.
