The ten-strong UK Women’s League team held onto their Division 2 status as a sixth place finish at Glasgow saw them edge our Sale in their fight for survival. The squad, a mix of youth and experience, all took on extra events for the club cause

Claire Brennan came close to victory in the 400m hurdles with a season's best and added another second place in the B triple jump, and her season's best sprint hurdles clocking in sixth was her best for two years. Morgan Campbell excelled on her league debut improving her 3000m best in third, adding third in the B 1500m and tackled the 'chase for the first time in fifth, while Robyn Matson added a trio of B string third places in the 800m and 3000m and also the unfamiliar 400m hurdles. Under 20s Jade Kavanagh and Kate O'Neill scored well with Jade taking on all three sprints, coming close to her best in the 200m for fourth and placing third in the 400m, while Kate was fourth in both the 800m & 1500m and adding discus points. Another Under 20 Charlie Wright equalled her best in the 200m and scored in the 100m.

The field eventers faced strong opposition but picked up vital points. Philippa Gill's shot PB placed her fifth and she added javelin and hammer points and fellow Under 20s Tomi Sanwo and Keturah Christie added points in the jumps and also covered gaps in the throws.  Experienced Nina Brennan added hammer & discus points to her 400m B sixth place points.

Keturah, Claire , Tomi & Charlie combined in the seventh placed sprint relay quartet before Kate, Claire, Nina and Jade rounded off a busy day with a fine fourth in the 4x400m relay.

With several key athletes missing, the squad's third consecutive sixth place was just enough to hold onto their Division 2 place and they hope to do better next year as several athletes move up from the Under 17s to strengthen the squad.
