A brilliant second place at sunny Bromley put the Youth Development League Under 13 & Under 15 squad in the hunt for a coveted place in the National Final at the half way stage of the four match season. And on a day of quality performances the headline went to the Under 15 girls 4 x 300m relay squad who carved five seconds of the previous club record, and also bettered the Under 17 Women' record in the process.

Although not at full strength, the Under 15 Girls recorded six wins, and five second places.  Alice Brown won the discus, with Hannah Yexley making it full points in the B too, and Alice came within one-hundredth of a second of the club 300m record in finishing second, as Olivia Boachie's PB claimed second in the 300m B race. Newcomer Tayllah Barton-Conde showed promise with a long jump win and third in the 200m, both in PBs, while Freya Higginbottom won the long jump B for good measure. Jessie Collier equalled her best to win the pole vault, with Annie Grannell third in the B and Lola Kuponiyi again dominated the shot for victory. Natalie Sewell's strong finish brought her 1500m second, as were hurdlers Ruby Mace & Paige Robinson (PB), with Ruby also runner up in the javelin. The sprint relay team of Shalom Gbadebo, Uche Okpalauko, Tayllah and Paige set a season's best in third, and the day ended on a high when Freya, Olivia, Ruby and Alice combined to smash the year-old 4x300m record, in the second fastest time in the UK this year.

The Under 15 boys were also in good form. Hurdlers Toby Bishop and Jacob Blanc both took full points and Jacob was third in the high jump, with Daragh Thomas second in the B, as well as placing third in the 300m B. Bradley James and Oliver Yexley added a javelin double, and Oliver and Patrick McLean-Tattan were both third in the discus, with Patrick second in the B hammer, as Charlie Black was third in the hammer A. Jed Oni was third in the long jump and second in the B 200m in a new PB, while his long jump partner Ashton Thatcher-Gray was B string runner up. Malcolm Oshungbohun and Michael Okoro added third and second places respectively in the100m and the 4x300m quartet of Bradley, Charlie, Daragh & Jacob ran well for third.

The Under 13 Girls were much improved from round 1. Stephanie Okoro was an unchallenged winner of the 800m, as was B string winner Ruby Higgins, and Stephanie also clocked the second fastest ever 75m time by a club U13 in second in that sprint, as the returning Paris King was second in the A string. Paris was also third in the hurdles, as Heidi Aylen's PB won her the B race. Tilly Canty finished well to improve her 1200m best to place second and enter the club all -time top 10 and Freya Long's PB was also second in the B string. After good work from Rania Richards, Paris and Tilly, Stephanie's superb anchor edged sprint relay victory in a photo finish.

Dominic Alexandru's double win in the hurdles and high jump were the winning Under 13 boys' performances. Dominic's 100m PB earned him second with Teddy Matthews' PB placing him third in the B 100m, and Sebastian Alexandru third in the B hurdles. Lewis Dixon was second in both the 200m and B long jump, Harrison Mayhew was second in the javelin on his league debut with Matthew Page second in the B, and Matthew Davies third in the shot. Teddy, Sebastian, Lewis and Dominic were third in the relay in a season's best.

At the half-way stage in the four match season, Havering are third in the table behind first round winners Reading, and hosts Blackheath & Bromley, with a trip to Reading and a home fixture still to come. With only the top two qualifying for the end of season National Final the club have it all to play for.
