| Havering Mayesbrook's ladies and girls dominated the second
Essex League fixture at Basildon on Saturday, providing the individual
winner in all six age categories. The Under 13s, with an amazing 17 girls
competing, were led home by the victorious pocket-dynamo Megan Foley, with
Charlotte Watkins and Robyn Matson second and third, and Leanne O'Neill in
12th completing the scoring winning team of four. Sara Luck was again the
Under 15 winner, backed up by Lynsey Clark in 12th, Natalie Adams 13th and
Caroline Smith in 19th, with the team placing second overall.
The combined Under 17 and Under 20 race again provided a Havering Mayesbrook 1-2-3 with Under 17 Lauren Deadman continuing her excellent comeback with another win, ahead of Laurie Cossey (who took the Under 20 honours) and Lydia Comley in second and third respectively (see photo right), while Emma Baglin placed eleventh to complete another winning team. The senior ladies repeated the winning streak with Debbie Sullivan, fresh from her GB International selection, proving too strong for the opposition, backed up by sister Jo in fourth, Nikki Barnett in 8th and Hayley Hawes one place behind in ninth, for another team success. Ruth O'Sullivan in 14th overall completed the HMAC clean sweep with victory in the women's veteran's category. The Men's and Boys' could not match their female club mates' success but nevertheless placed strongly. In the Senior/ Junior men's event, in the absence of John Barker, Gavin Maley was first home in fifth, backed up by Graham Pritchard 13th, Matt Bland 14th, Sean Reuby returning after a long lay-off through injury in 24th, ahead of junior Rob Warner 26th and Paul Berrett in 37th, the team placing fourth. The Under 13 Boys placed third, led home by Matthew Watkins in ninth, Andrew Luck 10th, Chris Driscoll (14th) and Martyn Chambers in 15th, with nine other finishers. In the Under 15 Boys’ category the team of James Deane (10th), Robert Howe (18th), Craig Dineen (19th) and Andrew Bright (20th) placed fourth, while the three-man Under17 team of Martin Heys (9th), Andrew Hunter (12th), and Martin Meehan (22nd) went one better in third.
