The fifth and final Essex Cross Country League fixture at Thurrock on Sunday confirmed Havering Mayesbrook’s domination of the Ladies’ events.

It was one-two-three in the under 13 race as Megan Foley, Charlotte Watkins, and Robyn Matson swept the board, while Leanne O’Neil (6^th), Vicky Smith (7^th) and newcomer Katie Richardson (8^th) made it six in the first ten.  Foley, Watkins and Matson also took the league’s gold, silver and bronze awards for the season, with the team running away with the league title.

The under 15 girls’ team were without Sara Luck, who was victorious for Essex Schools the previous day in the Schools Inter Counties match. But the team performed well in her absence with Rosie Saunders in third, Natalie Adams 7^th, Carmel Munson 9^th, Danielle Young 10^th and Laura Moore in 11^th. 

In the combined under 17 and under 20 event a depleted complement of only two HMAC athletes took part with Helen Biscoe 3^rd and Emma Baglin 11^th.  The absence of Lauren Deadman, did not affect her position as league champion, as she had won the first four league races (with the best four of five results counting towards the seasonal award), while Helen Biscoe placed 3^rd in the under 20 performance table. The senior ladies team were also thin on the ground with only Jo Sullivan in fourth and veteran Lesley Felton (13^th) turning out. This confirmed Jo’s third place in the league standings, while Lesley claimed gold in the veteran’s table, with the missing Dawn Hawes runner up.

There was another encouraging performance from the senior men, placing second.  John Barker (7^th), Gavin Maley (8^th) and Rob Dickenson (11^th) were all prominent and Graham Pritchard (21^st), Garry Howard (30^th) and junior Neill Collins (31^st) gave good support. Rob Warner placed third in the junior men's league rankings for the season.
