Junior Men Finish Fourth

Havering Mayesbrook AC’s Junior Men’s team performed with credit at Thurrock on Sunday and were somewhat unlucky to finish no higher than fourth behind Basildon, Dartford and Bexley. Bringing up the rear  were Woodford Green & Essex Ladies in 5^th,  Thurrock in 6^th and Southend in last place.

Despite being unable to field athletes in the sprint hurdles and 3000m and without any individual winners on the day, there were a number of good performances. The field athletes led the way with new personal bests for Tom Melrose, runner-up in the Discus and Andrew Tierney in the Hammer. Tierney was also second in the ‘B’ Discus and Shot events.

Trevor Walton also gained second place points in the High Jump and ‘B’ 400m Hurdles and it was good to see the Smith twins (Robin and Jamie) back in action on the track. Other runner-up spots went to David Allen (‘B’ 400m) and second claim newcomer Jon Kisney (100m).

The result leaves Havering Mayesbrook 3^rd in the League with 12pts behind Dartford (15pts) and Basildon (13pts). The next meeting is on Sunday, July 29^th at Bexley.
