The
final fixture in the National Junior Men’s League was held at Ashton Playing
Fields Woodford Green. The Havering Squad were full of confidence having all but
secured league victory at Ipswich in the last fixture.
The
day started off well with Joe Forde stepping up from the under 17’s to throw
the heavier hammer for the first time. He
threw just short of 40m to clinch the A String victory.
Ashley Reece stepped in to cover the B String and finished 3rd.
Aarron
Edwards decided not to do the South of England multi events champs to compete
for the team. He covered Shot,
Discus, 110m Hurdles 400m Hurdles and Pole Vault finishing 3rd, 2nd,
2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
There
was an impressive display in the 1500m from Martin Heys and Ashley Reece.
The both went off in search of the four- minute barrier and almost achieved it
while destroying the field in the process.
Martin came home in 4m 05.9secs and Ashley in a new PB of 4m
07.1secs. Andrew
Meech was tripped in the 800m and still managed to come in 2nd with a good time.
Ashley Reece was on fine form again in the 800m running close to his best and
winning the B string.
Luke
Stott performed extremely well in the 200 and long jump setting two new PBs.
Luke also came in a close 3rd in the 100m just a fraction of a
second outside his PB.
Scott
Keating racked up 26pts while setting two new PBs in the B String Shot and B
String Javelin. He improved on recent form to jump 1.80m in the High-Jump and
win the A String. High-Jump partner
Mark Connelly won the B String.
Team
Captain Simon Parker was very busy competing in the 200m 100m triple jump
and 4x100m. He will be unavailable for the promotion match as he will be
in Spain on holiday.
Other
performances on the day were Lewis Huckfield competing in the A 3000m and 400m B

the 400m.

finished 2nd he also ran the 2000m Steeple Chase for the second time
coming in 2nd in the A String. Ben
Jones recorded his first scoring event for the team by finishing 3rd
in the B Steeple Chase. His
performance was especially good as he is a 100m sprinter.
Adam
Brett was 2nd in the B 400m Hurdles and 1st in the B 110m
Hurdles.
Harry
Tyler was competing after a bad cold and finished slightly down on his PB in the
